When you arrive in the courtyard collect your map and stickers in the tea room and then follow the chick trail around the farmyard. You can stop along the way to feed and pet some of the animals. At different times of the year there are different animals as it depends what is going on in farm calendar. We have many chickens around the farm which you can pick up if you can catch them. There are geese to hiss at you as you pass and numerous ducks either on the pond or dibbling in the stable yard. We have quite a collection of sheep breeds and always lambs to feed in the spring. There are cows and calves in the paddock and pigs in the wood.
These love to play to an audience especially if they’re getting fed. We rear many of our own chicks in an incubator as well as by the hen herself. The chicks and ducklings go in a ‘hot box’ so that you can see them and it keeps them safe and warm. When you are in the stable yard you can visit the farm story room which tells you much more about your visit. There are puzzles and quiz sheets if you fancy a challenge and each month we hold a competition based around the farm.
We also have two ponies from a local rescue centre called Zemmy and Owen. They like being loved but you cannot ride them. Sometimes you can help to groom them or take them for a walk round the fields.
Farm float:If you just want a mini tour of the main farm we have our farmyard float that goes around the paddocks to see all the animals and takes about twenty minutes. These run at several times during the day and are great fun for big and little people.
